Configure Player

Configure.jpg (57484 bytes)

This sub screen allows you to choose a name, a team, and a model for your player to use in multiplayer games.

Join A Server

This sub screen shows available servers running Soldier of Fortune on the Internet. The top section shows the name of the server (e.g. Bob’s Arena of Death), average ping (speed of connection), game type (e.g. Assassin, Arsenal), map name (e.g. Sibdm1), and number of players in each displayed server. Clicking the Refresh button will refresh the server list, removing cancelled servers and displaying new ones. Right-clicking your mouse on a server on the list will show you the server’s properties and the names of the players currently in the multiplayer game.

Start Server

Start Server.jpg (62984 bytes)

This sub screen allows you to set up your own multiplayer game server. Enter a hostname for your server (e.g. Bob’s Arena of Death) and adjust the settings to your liking. You can set time limits, frag (kill) limits, deathmatch type (see note below), public server, and maximum number of clients (players) you want to be able to join your game. Cycle through the List File Selection to choose a multiplayer map.

Note: If you want no limits, set frag and time limits to zero. The maximum number of clients is 32, but 16 is the recommended maximum for optimum networking performance. Deathmatch types are as follows:

DeathmatchStandard multiplayer mayhem where every player is out for him or herself: Take the other players out before they take you out.

Note: Team Play must be enabled in the Game Settings sub-menu for Team Deathmatch. See Game Settings for details.

AssassinTake down a specifically assigned player and defend yourself against the player or players that are assigned to take you down. Fire away at players marked with red and orange, but leave the players marked in green alone. Taking down green players will subtract from your score.

ArsenalTake down your enemies with weapons randomly assigned to you by the computer. You need to score a kill with each of your assigned weapons to get a big bonus score.

Capture The FlagHelp your teammates find the enemy’s flag and return it to your base for points. Defend your flag at all costs from the enemy onslaught.

RealisticWeapons do realistic damage to the human body. Reloads are manual. Falling damage is on. PADD is used as fatigue meter. Watch your back! This is one deadly deathmatch mode.

Note: The medkits in Realistic Multiplayer mode do not return health. They heal your legs so that your full movement speed is restored. They also heal your arms so that your aim is no longer inherently poor.

Game Settings
